Hello, World!
Welcome 2021!
Happy new year and welcome 2021. A day late and a dollar short, as the saying goes.
I had my last day of 2020 planned, including my post dinner reverie to sum up the year to assess my current compass point, before laying out my plans for the coming year prior to sending personalized texts to the important people in my life. All of that ground to a halt when I got a phone call at 7:01pm from one of my children, letting me know they were fine but my car was not. Forty minutes later I was at Lady Minto hospital with my daughter and her friend, where they were administered immediate, skillful and compassionate care. Discovering that both of them sustained only minor injuries (which will still take weeks or longer to completely heal) was a relief. It was interesting to me that the pithy post I’d been churning about in my head all day, relating healing to hair products, flew out the window as my only focus was on the two people who had been in my car and seen almost every airbag go off. 2020, you certainly ended our year with an emphatic bang, along with the recognition and gratitude that this story could easily have had a much different ending. Massive thank you to the nurses on duty that night – Laura Harvey for her gentle administrations, and Danielle Poland for your support, as well as Dr. Kesh Smith, who managed to bond with the girls over his time in Antigonish. Your calmness, kindness and expertise helped put my girls at ease during what I’m sure will be an unforgettable new year’s eve for our family.
Maybe next week I will have regrouped all my pithiness to post my hopefully inspirational healing post, along with some beautiful shot from my glorious island home. In the meantime, I will regroup with meditation, @fwfglife (Yoga with Adriene – who is offering a new free 30 days of yoga called Breath – and is exactly what I need), mindful eating and all around being, and continuing to count my many, many blessing.
Much love and light to you all for the coming year. xo

A few years after I discovered reflexology, I found what has been another life-long friend in yoga. Through a very strange and serendipitous series of events, I was fortunate to meet and practice with Leslie Young in Whistler. Learning shivasana (corpse pose) at the end of every class was one of the first times I had ever consciously made my mind become fully present with my body. I loved it and was eager to learn more.

In my thirty years of practice, I have uncovered connections between the feet and body, including emotional and spiritual health, that I never dreamed existed. When I first started my practice, my intention was to help people relax through a great foot massage, but I underestimated the impact my treatments were having.
